On Nithing Poles / Níðstangs

Hey all, I'm an amateur folklorist and am currently doing some research on modern uses / views of Nithing poles. I was thinking that getting some information from this board seemed like a good idea, and was wondering if anybody here had ever used one or had heard stories about their use. If anyone has any kind of views on Nithing poles in general I would appreciate hearing those as well.
