    Re: Anglo-Saxon Poetry Thread

Beowulf is the only Anglo-Saxon poem I know of, ashamedly! What other examples are there that I can read before participating?
I'm not one to ever pray for mercy
Or to wish on pennies in the fountain or the shrine
But that day you know I left my money
And I thought of you only

You could look for widsith (the Traveller or Wanderer), Deor, The Battle of Maldon, The Dream of the Rood, The Exeter Riddles, The Durham Proverbs, Waldere (which is only a fragment) - one of the most useful things on this thread will be an online (free) Anglo-Saxon dictionary (Bosworth Toller is very good).
