There is probably a village or two for sale in France as well, if you don't mind them being practically empty (and if there isn't, they go up for sale periodically). They also run a lot cheaper.

In Germany it's less common to buy a whole village because of how property is organized here, but you can almost always find run down palaces for sale. Sometimes they're not even run down.
