Carnelian, amber or garnet beads work well. Ashes... Cinnamon or cinammon candies. Red-hot candies or atomic fireball candies, or those Mexican chile candies would work, too.

You could always light a candle and hold the jar upside-down over the flame, then blow it out. That was all the smoke will go into the jar, and you could but the top back on it. That way you can sort of have the essence of the fire inside.

.99 cent lighter would be around that size.

My mind first went to volcanic rocks, if you can get them. Anything that reminds you of fire would work really.

Piece of charcoal, small chunk of sulfur, some chili powder, black pepper...lots of things...

What is something small to represent fire?

I'm making a spell jar and I want to put something in to represent fire, but I'm having a hard time figuring out something that would be small enough to put in the jar (its a little bigger than a golf ball). Any ideas?
Working...
