I just did it a few mins ago.  Hair is fluffy, feels clean, doesn't smell like vinegar, isn't dried out.  I've got a month off, so why not?  Besides the getting used to it phase I don't think it makes you "not look nice"... I doubt there would be so many people happy with it (lots of people in Thalassa's links) if it makes you gross.

I can live with doubt, and uncertainty, and not knowing. I think it's much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers which might be wrong. I have approximate answers, and possible beliefs, and different degrees of certainty about different things, but I’m not absolutely sure of anything, and in many things I don’t know anything about, such as whether it means anything to ask why we’re here, and what the question might mean. I might think about a little, but if I can’t figure it out, then I go to something else. But I don’t have to know an answer. I don’t feel frightened by not knowing things, by being lost in a mysterious universe without having any purpose, which is the way it really is, as far as I can tell, possibly. It doesn’t frighten me.

I wash my hair regularly but also spray it with vinegar once or twice a week.  (lemon juice like FW suggested is also a nice idea - especially if you have chemically treated hair.  It can help get that gross chemical smell out of your hair after a perm and such).  Washing or rinsing with something slightly acidic like lemon juice or vinegar (which both have a pH of over 2) is excellent for your hair because your hair is slightly acidic also (about a 5).  The acid keeps your hair super shiny and manageable Cheesy  (I learned this magic in my museum conservation course when we were studying organics).  So if your hair is getting dull, lustreless or brittle, it's probably becoming too alkaline and needs a shot of acid!

eta: that's why so many shampoos advertise that they're "pH balanced" -- they're telling you they're slightly acidic. Smiley

To be honest I wash my hair once a week. Thats it. When I do wash my hair I use an herbal formula of Green Tea and Asian Pear. Works great for me. Keep in mind my hair is very short.

Me too, hence the initial interest.  So far so good, I've gone awhile without washing it before (because I had to >.< ) and it got really bad really fast.  Using the baking soda paste with vinegar wash really seems to be doing the trick.  Still a little heavier than I like but hopefully I can get past this part.  I'm so anal about my hair *twitch*

Interesting, but I don't think I'm going to try it.  I use organic herbal shampoo and olive oil everyday and my hair is fabulous.  It is soft and I never have split ends.  You know what they say....if it ain't broke, don't fix it.  I will be interested to hear back from those that do try this.

good questions!  I'd say one part water to one part lemon juice should do the trick.  That stuff is pretty concentrated so it'll still be strong Smiley
