My partner and I are helping our landlady to clean up one of her properties. The previous tenants left rather hastily and left a lot of their belongings behind. In the process of cleaning up, I found a shoe box filled with small plasitc baggies of stuff, each labeled as to its contents. My question is: Is this someones collection of kitchen spices or could one of the tenants have been into the occult? Here is the contents of the box. I have not done any work with herbs or such yet so I'm not really sure....

Jasmine flowers
Juniper berries
Allspice berries
Frankincense resin
Yarrow
Marjoram leaves
Lemongrass stalk
Sea salt
Coriander seed
Bay leaves
Cinnamon sticks
Carnation flowers
Mustard seed
2 large brown nuts - I think they might be nutmeg
3 1/2 Charcoal discs
An unlabeled bag of dried stuff that smells very flowery - could be incense or potpourri

What do you think?

I think that they were into some simple herbalism. Those are common herbs used in incense and salves.

Got another question related to this find....  Would it be okay for me to use these as my own (after a proper cleanising of course) or should I dispose of them?

Think of it as a gift from the gods.

Cynics and pessimists always regard themselves as realists. Optimists never claim to be realists, and, in fact, they rarely see realism as a virtue. I wonder why that is?

Never tell people how you get things done, just get them done. People are more likely to believe that you can do miracles if they don't know how busy your hands are when they're not looking.

SAme as everyone else. Use it. Just make sure the labels are correct. Remember, nothing in Nature is wasted. Everything is used, and reused. If it is left behind, it is scavenged. Nothing goes to waste.
