Hey there, I was just hoping to get some recommendations on music. I was hoping to find some decent "pagan" music and some music for meditation.
As far as "pagan" music goes I've listened to Loreena McKennit for years (its a long story but "All souls Night" help inspire me to look into Paganism more) but thats as far as I've gotten into "pagan" music. I was hoping to get some suggestions.
I live on a college campus so its often noisy at night an I need background noise to concentrate. I have some trance music and a really old McKennit CD but they can be distracting while I'm trying to meditate. I was just wondering if anyone could suggest some good music for this purpose.

Ah, I should clarify the term "pagan music". Even I dont know what I mean by that so I suppose any music that obviously refers to pagan stuff (like songs about Yule or the goddess, ect).
I'd also like to see what music you associate with your spirituality. It could be completely unrelated lyrically or have no lyrics at all, just whatever you associate with your spirituality or paganism. I had some decent electronica that would fit the bill but I never knew the titles or artist.

^_^ Thank you volcanistic, I'll check out the old thread.

You're going to laugh at me, but...

A few years ago when I was at PSG, there was this band that played a hilarious song called "Pagans in the Mud". I just did a search for it in google, and couldn't find anything. I was at least hoping to find the band name, but nothing came up with the query. *pout*

If I ever find out the band name or where to find it, I'll post it here.

As for music associated with my path?... There really is none. I follow Andean Shamanism... generally whenever I hear Pan-flutes, I think of it... but I don't usually listen to that type of music.

It's not really 'pagan' at all but I find that listening to instrumental music by Romantic composers (Chopin, Debussy, Brahms, etc) is really good for meditation.

I did a review for paganradio.net (incidentally the best solution for pagan music is just to go there, or install their firefox player) on Koir Linae Carothers. I loved her album.

The time for it has past, but a fantastic album for Yule is "Beautiful Darkness: Celebrating the Winter Solstice", this can be found on Amazon. At first I wasn't too high on the idea of music and poetry for some selections. Regardless, I decided to download it and use at as mood music for my Yule ritual.

I just happened to be lighting my candles just as "One Small Candle/Beautiful Darkness" kick on. Wow! What a tremendous piece of music at that moment!

I highly recommend the album. In retrospect, I think the poetry part might be very good for solitaries to listen to in between the stages of their ritual. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the musicians did other albums for the other times of the year.  Cry
