Ack! Poor Stanley, our cat is looking sorrowful and soggy having just been bathed and Anti-Flea shampoo'd for the 3rd time this winter!
Worse part, he is the only one of our 4 cats to have fleas, and they weren't there yesterday. he sat on my lap this evening and he was crawling with them, all over his ears.
We bathed him thoroughly and went through his fur with a Nit-comb to try and get rid of any others that had escaped drowning in the bath. We counted over 60 Fleas in the water when we had finished.
Frontlining him doesn't work at all, 2 weeks after a full dose he will be crawling again Sad

Does anyone know of any good preventions for fleast for our furries? i am concious that this being the coldest winter since, like the ice age or something, the damned Fleas are still going strong.  and yay! summer is on the way *Gulp!*

I did read somewhere on here about using Garlic powder on their food.. does that work well ? apart from making them smell funny and having them ridiculed by the other local cats?

If you just can't get rid of them, it's time to go away from the herbal help.  I suggest Revolution.  Works great.  Way more effective than Frontline. Cured my poor cat from the never ending ear mites, and when we took our dogs to a family gathering that every other dog left with fleas, ours didn't get them.

There is a commercially available all-natural flea spray called Natural Defense that works good too, but I think it's more effective as a deterrent than an eradication measure.  It smells great too.

I thought Garlic was more for ticks... Not sure if it works for fleas.

The problem with fleas is that they're not just on your cat - they're in your house. You can kill all the fleas on the cat one day, and then have the cat crawling with fleas the next.

Unfortunately, that means you're pretty much going to have to bug bomb your house. Several times - because the bug bombs kill the live fleas, not the eggs, so you have to wait for the eggs to hatch, then bomb again.

The other option is manage the fleas on the cat, and wait for warmer, damp weather to draw the fleas back outside.

I have been told that brewer's yeast in the catfood will keep fleas off the cat, but it never worked for us.

Never tell people how you get things done, just get them done. People are more likely to believe that you can do miracles if they don't know how busy your hands are when they're not looking.

We just had to do this at my mom's house because her dog STILL had fleas and apparently is highly allergic.  There is a spray you can use on all the carpets and bedding and furniture that is soft or fabric that your cat gets on.  It kills the eggs and fleas supposedly.  We've noticed a difference in the dogs itching since using it.

sounds very promising, any idea what the name of the spray?
we have tried bug bombs, but he brings the fleas in from elsewhere,  we bombed the house last time, and no one else has fleas at all.

Last time it got that bad for me I took all the pets (2 cats 1 dog) to a self pet wash place and gave them baths. Meanwhile, a couple flea bombs were taking care of the house.
