The term spirit guide and medium ship seem to be synonymous. Renowned
mediums like Arthur Ford and his guide Fletcher, Eileen Garrett and her
guide Uvani, lead us to believe that we must surrender control of our
consciousness to allow our guides to speak through us in a channeling
session. This is not true, everyone has a spirit guide, several to be
exact and you need not display mediumistic abilities to communicate
with your own guidance. You need not give up your conscious control for
they will speak to you with a thought that drifts through your mind
like a feather in the wind. They will lead you with an inner prompting
along the path that you agreed to travel and yes, they will act as a
go-between in medium activities. They are your best friends if
you will but strive to accept them..
Many of us believe
that we only have one Spirit Guide. I believe this to be a
misconception. We do have one Spirit Guide that remains with us for
all of our lives but we have many others as well. Lets take a look at
them:
| Common Spirit Guide |
| The
general characteristic that separates a Spirit Guide from other types
of spiritual beings is that they have lived a physical life and return
to aide others in working through the same lessons they have been
through. Common Spirit Guide is a term I will use to differentiate the
various types of guidance and it is not meant to imply any lesser value
than any other guide. The Common Spirit Guide is here to help with
problem solving. They can often appear in groups as well as singular.
These guides are learning just as we are and although their perspective
is much broader than ours is they often remain in the background
watching to see how we solve our problems. They give insight through
dreams or meditation and at times a sudden realization of a situation
that is developing and our role in that. The proverbial " light bulb
going off". They can remain with us our whole lifetime or stay only for
a set amount of time. They are prearranged prior to incarnation. |
| Master Teacher Guide |
| I
like to refer to our Master Guide as the main one. This is guide that
we would call the one in charge. It is the one that we identify with
when asked to name our guide. Master Teachers are with us from birth to
death and we can have several working with us at the same time. The
purpose of the Master Teacher Guide is to inspire us and help us
inspire others. They are also referred to as the protector as they are
there to help us keep on track. Known also as a "Gatekeeper" or "Door
Keeper", they tend to only allow guidance of the purest and most
beneficial intent to aid you. They will also stand guard during
mediumship, allowing only the spirits you are seeking contact with into
your consciousness. |
| Teacher Guide |
| We
have Teacher Guides that flit in and out dealing only with the subjects
they came to guide us in. Imagine a college setting, you have one
teacher for math, one for English, one for biology etc. So it is with
the Teacher Guides. They aid us in matters of health, science, biology,
relationship skills, and any and all topics you can think of. The
Master Teacher is then in comparison the dean of the school, overseeing
the curriculum of all the other Teacher Guides. The Teacher Guides are
here to help us develop principles regarding our morals, compassion,
and ethics. They work hand in hand with the Common Spirit Guides. |
| These
seem to be the three main groupings of Spirit Guides but we will cover
a few other entities that make up the "Celestial Realm of Guidance." |
| Saints |
| Saints
are those that lived a life devoted to serving God. They have performed
miracles thereby demonstrating their mastery of the spiritual
principles. When they make the transition they are given the right to
pass on their knowledge to others. Actual communication with a Saint is
very rare, as they tend to pass on their knowledge when you focus on
the name or life of the saint. St Germain has been known to communicate
with individuals when he wished to pass on information for the
awakening of humankind as a whole. Please be aware those many that
purport to be channeling a Saint are misinterpreting the identity of
the spirit. |
| Ascended Masters |
|
Ascended
Masters are those beings that have lived a physical life and became
master of that life. For example, Jesus, Buddha, and Krishna. The
difference between Saints and Ascended Masters is that Saints spent
their lives serving God as a separate entity, while Ascended Masters
spent their lives with the understanding they are one with God that God
is not separate but a part of us. Ascended Masters seldom work with
individuals although it is not unknown, they tend to work on a broader
scale for the good of the whole planetary consciousness. They will work
with collective groups of souls whose primary mission in this life was
to improve humankind as a whole ad lead to a spiritual transformation.
|
| Angels |
|
Despite
popular belief Angels are not reincarnated loved ones. Angels have
never led a physical life and were created as divine beings. They were
created to serve as messengers from the Divine.
Today
we are seeing a renaissance of angelic presence. Angels have been with
humankind since the beginning of time. Today we see television shows
about them, multitudes of books on the market about them and personal
accounts in the thousands of angelic intervention.
Angels
can appear in any form they wish. They seldom talk to us in the manner
of spirit guides but it is not unknown for it to happen. Anyone can
have an encounter with an Angel. Their purpose is to stir within each
of us the knowledge that we are not alone, that we are divine by nature
and that divinity has our best interests in mind. They rescue us from
danger, inspire us to create beautiful music prod us towards living a
spiritual life. They make the most beautiful synchronistic event happen
in your life but understand this…They interact with us in their own
timeframe, not subject to our beck and call unless the need is very
great. They do not give you winning lottery numbers or predict the
future. They are of the soul and concerned with the soul not the
mundane aspects of physical life, that is the Spirit Guide's job.
|
| Guardian Angels |
| Much
has been said about each of us having a Guardian Angel, implying one
angel that watches over us. I think that we have many guardian angels,
all of the angelic realm so to speak. All angels are guardians, but you
may feel the male or female presence associated with your Master
Teacher Guide and suppose that it is a Guardian Angel. |
| Archangels |
| Archangels
come from a different realm than Angels. Some people believe that
Archangels incarnated in the very beginning of humankind’s inception.
They then returned to their dimension almost never needing to incarnate
again while others believe that they have never incarnated nor have
they the ability to do so. Although we can not seem to determine their
origin or their defining characteristics we can be assured that if
there were a hierarchy in Heaven they would be close to the top.
Archangels do not communicate with humans, despite popular belief. They
are divine in nature, their purpose is to handle matters in other
dimensions, not ours here on earth. |
How Do We Get To Know Our Guides?
Guides
contact us in very subtle ways. They provoke a thought in our heads
much like angels, they visit us in our dreams and appear in our
meditations. Like all concepts in spiritual growth, intent is
everything and if you desire to make contact with guidance, dedication
and perseverance will enable you to do so.
Some guides
appear as physical beings in meditation and dreams while at other times
they appear as beings of light, pure light of different colors. You can
ask your guidance to appear in dreams, but better still is to make a
conscious attempt to meditate to meet them.
It is not
important to get a name for your guide, they often prefer not to give
their physical names as you tend to emulate the name and not listen to
their advice.
They are our very best friend. They keep
our secrets and share our pain and joy. They are our teachers, leading
us down paths that will aid us in defining our focus. They are our
muse providing us with inspiration when we are searching for just the
exact way to convey a creative or artistic idea.
Like all
spiritual beings, Spirit Guides seldom predict the future. While they
will give you some hints as to what may occur if you continue on your
current path, there seems to be a prime directive that will not allow
them to tell us what to do. In life threatening situations they will
attempt to warn us but they will not give us the lottery numbers.
Getting
to know your Spirit Guides and establishing communication with them is
one of the most important things you can do to enhance your own
intuitive ability.
