So I thought I'd update the new regimen after my dr's visit.

Let's start with the easy stuff.
~Vitamin D deficiency is gone. Doc said to just take my 50,000 units once a month as maintenance.
~All my cholesterol levels are normal (thanks Lipitor!) I think the snacking on nuts and olives and sticking to wheat and high fiber fruits helps.
~My a1c went from 12.8 (omg, how was I not dead?!) all the way to 8.8! My doc is shooting for a 7. She was very happy with the results. And so am I. That Jardiance really works.
~My blood pressure at the office was perfectly normal. Not even high normal. But like 133 over something something normal (meh, forgot that bottom number. But that top number is right on target). I did ride my bike to the dr's office.

Medication adjustments:
After talking over with my doc about the very low numbers I was getting in the late afternoon/early evening, we both came to some conclusions. Let me digress in saying I love this dr. She had all my bloodwork papers ready to give me so we could go over it. And she worked through my new experimental regimen with me out on a paper. She really has me involved in my health, which makes me feel empowered. And I got an increase in my Jardiance and decrease in my Glipizide.

So she thinks my lows are due to the Glipizide in combination with the Metformin. I was talking met 850mg x2. But she changed it to 500mg. She made the dose smaller but gave me a max daily dose of 2000 (which is the normal maint dose). She told me to work with the pills and see what works best for me. And she told me to cut one of my Glipizide pills out. She also prescribed another med for me just in case this new plan doesn't work. Then I can fill the prescription and try that. So after working it all out on paper I have another new routine. I need to spread out the Metformin through the entire day evenly. This med builds up in your system and keeps on going. I think I was taking too many too close together and causing lows.

(puts on mad scientist coat)
6am: take 1000mg met +all other morning meds
(I put the meds in a container by my bed w/water ready to go. I set my alarm, which I usually get up to pee anyways. Take the pills and go back to bed till I get up at 11am.

12:30pm 'breakfast' take 500mg of Met and 20mg of Glip

5:30pm 'work lunch' no meds

10pm 'dinner' all night meds +500mg met and 10mg Glip

I need to see if:
~Spreading out met over a 6 hour interval helps keep me level
~if I need to spread out the Glip from the breakfast to the lunch. Usually by the work lunch, the 1500 mg of Met lower any foods I eat. And taking the glib at work lunch was causing me to crash an hour later. So dr said I can skip it or not, depending on how my numbers show.

So I'm keeping my travel Diabetes journal updated a few more times a day so I can see the results.

And then finally I have to get a stress test *she's going to send me to a cardiologist and they are going to make me run on a treadmill! oh noes! Also a referral to the optometrist (Diabetic patients get it freee!)

And finally the only thing abnormal is my liver. She did a hep test (negative) and I did have an ultrasound already. I have a fatty liver. She's like the only thing that makes that go away is losing weight (which is why she cut my Glip. It causes weight gain). So yeah. I got to deal with that.

But I'm really happy with my results overall. Sorry long boring med post. But being Diabetic is like learning the rules to craps.
