    Positive Progression

Having taken the first faltering steps in a decade toward anything spiritual I'm feeling a lot happier... so in light of all the bad and depressing things happening in the world I thought I'd share some (small) positive things starting to fall into place...

    • A book I was unsure of buying on Amazon (The Awen Alone by Joanna van der Hoeven), I found it for sale in a small independent shop and it's giving me some interesting pointers.
    • Mentioned (in very simplistic terms) to my daughter about Faeries and giving thanks to nature and she was very responsive.
    • Found a remote stone Circle from an old website (last updated 2002!) that with some Google maps help showed another nearby, neither recorded in guidebooks.
    • A member of this forum has taken pity on a novice and sent me some fantastic links, which I'll be reading over the weekend...

    I love hearing positive things!

I wish I could remember of the name of the stone circle I went to once upon a time. But it was basically in a field full of sheep by the coast, the stones were about knee-high and the horizon (it was in a bit of a valley) was the outer circle. They are very pretty places though.

I'm jealous of those stone circles. Yeah, I live in the United States. Anything Native American was destroyed long long before we even came here.

They beckon, they whisper, 'Oh! strong armed in valor,
The pale guests await thee - mead foams in Valhalla.'"

I thought one or two Native American/First Nation had survived? Or is it just reconstructions?

They've survived... Well, it's nowhere near how they should be. Mostly corrupted little settlements on terrible land, with problems of violence and drinking. Or, it's casinos because they did what was best to make money. This isn't me being a bigot with stereotypes either, I've seen it first hand. It's terrible what has happened to the Native American people. Some of their religions have survived, though, they lack every foundation they were established under. I'd say it's a type of reconstruction now with how America has changed, and how many of them are actually left.
I Don't mean to derail your thread either. I do apologize.

Pretty much all, or at least most, were destroyed via the "Indian Schools." Most current Native American religions are reconstructions, based on old stories and books, such as "Black Elk Speaks." Maybe the Hopi survived, but I'm not sure. You'd need a specialist to tell you.
Every moment of a life is a horrible tragedy, a slapstick comedy, dark nihilism, golden illumination, or nothing at all; depending on how we write the story we tell ourselves.
