I think it depends on what you're after, but a few of my favourites....

The 'Our Troth' books (1 and 2) by Kveldulf Gundarsson et al

'Teutonic Magic' and 'Elves, Wights and Trolls' by Kveldulf Gundarsson

The 'Northen Tradition Shamanism' series (there are five) by Raven Kaldera

    'Seidhr' by Katie Gerrard

    Anything by Edred Thorsson.

    Anything by HR Ellis Davidson

All the Icelandic Sagas (of which there are many)

'Northern Myths and Magick' by Freyja Aswynn

'Exploring the Northern Tradition' by Galina Krasskova

'Myths of the Norsemen' by Guerber (I think... I can't double check my copy 'cos it's in storage but that sounds right.)

'The Norse Myths' by Kevin Crossley Holland

And any number of rune books, which is really a separate topic!

I was going to suggest "Leaves of Yggdrasil" but then I remembered that it had been republished under ^ name.

Words for Warriors: A Resource for Heathens in the Military by Diana Paxson is also a very insightful work and while mostly targeting heathens in the military, I find that it does a very good job of portraying the tradition in the simple warrior context that we've all come to know from the old Norse world. It's very short and I definitely think it's worth a read. Many practical applications of runework, invocations to the gods, and living with wights.

I'm glad this resurfaced. I've been looking into this.

We Are Our Deeds - Eric Wodening.
A Practical Heathen's Guide to Asatru - Patricia M. Lafayllve
Essential Asatru - Diana L. Paxson.

I'm currently reading Culture of the Teutons. I would not recommend it as a starting out book. It is extremely dense and wordy, such that I may put it aside and pick it up some time in the future.
