I agree with B here. What does snowflakes have to do with Jesus? I never associated them with Christianity back in the day. I associated them with the Christmas season, but now with Christianity.

Please everyone go to your local Starbucks tomorrow and you will see how much they don't celebrate Christmas. We roll out all of our christmas stuff 11/11. Apparently lack of stuff like Christmas trees and reindeer are also a problem. This is just mind blowing, because those have nothing to do with Christianity, and they didn't even hit the English-speaking world until the 19th century. The Christmas tree is a GERMAN tradition, and the only reason y'all adopted it is because British royalty kept marrying Germans and because Germans were a major immigrant group for a long time. The first Christmas tree in the UK was set up in the royal palace in 1800 because the queen consort to George III was German. It pretty much remained a royal thing until later on, though, after Prince Albert (another German) helped spread the tradition throughout the UK. In North America, y'all have them because of German immigrants. And don't even get me started on reindeer. That tradition is so modern that it didn't even exist until "The Night Before Christmas" was published in 1823.

Those people who are SO offended by the lack of modern Christmas symbols really have to ask themselves about what people did before the 19th century. They celebrated Christmas without trees, reindeer, or snowflakes, and it was still Christmas.

I have many Christian friends, all whom I have much respect for, and this is coming from a Heathen. They look down upon the action of crazies like this, and one brought up a good point to me; Christians as a large should not be looked down upon for the actions of some radical idiots wearing the cross. They do not speak for the Christian populace as a whole, yet, destroy the credibility of those who quietly practice their religion, labeling them in the same category as the idiots spewing words of superiority. I like my Christian friends, we can actually converse on topics and find similarities between our stories and ideals, but these people continuously destroy the reputation of nice kind people. The radical Christians idea of the war on Christmas comes from actions like this, they're creating their own battlefield where people continuously lose respect for their group as a whole.

If someone who could turn water into wine wanted coffee, they sure wouldn't need Starbucks!

There are so many versions of how the tradition of bringing in tree branches got started, and a Holly King/Father Christmas/etc., it's not even funny. It doesn't matter (to me) who had what first....I want to celebrate everything!
