    The NYPD Is So Corrupt

Hey everybody. I'm going to rant about the NYPD. In case that some of you know I live in New York, New York home of the big apple. Also I'm not a big fan of the NYPD. Most of the police officers are complete ******* always blaming on innocent people. Not only that they shoot innocent people and they always get away with him. Just look what happen to Eric Garner. He was selling loose cigarettes and the police chokehold him to death saying I can't breath. And the police officer who chokehold him didn't go to jail or anything. That straight up ********. I hate the NYPD> The NYPD suppose to protect innocent people not shoot and kill innocent people. That's my rant.

Tell me about it. I was once kicked out of Penn Station for using a wall outlet to charge my phone by NYPD. They said "homeless people are not allowed to use the outlets here". I argued saying it was a public place and I was indeed waiting for a train.Eventually I was put in handcuffs and escorted out of Penn Station thereby missing my train. I was homeless in New York for three weeks after the Appalachian Trail. If you are homeless in NYC the police will harass you. They will make your life miserable. One morning I was sleeping under an awning and woke to a cop(I should just say pig) kicking me until I moved. And that's nothing compared to the rest of the evil that the NYPD and the commissioner is involved in. Luckily, I left NYC as it obviously wasnt working out and things have gotten better. But, oppressing the poor people of New York and the homeless is the NYPD's number one goal. I have absolutely no respect for them.

I guess things have changed. I'm very proud to say that my grandfather was a NYPD detective.

To be fair, that situation entailed something of a selection bias. It's likely that the police that disliked the homeless spent much more of their time harassing the homeless, than those that liked the homeless (since they couldn't really legally do much) and that you thus only experienced the coppers that disliked the homeless. The majority of the NYPD is likely much more productive with their time, as far as actually doing their job and being decent people.

Of course, it IS actually illegal to sleep on property that you do not own, as well as public locales.

Though it really shouldn't be, at least for public areas. Honestly, if you've ever paid a cent of taxes, you helped pay for the acquisition of said property, and thus own a small share of it. That's why they're called public; every tax paying citizen helped purchase the area, and is thus entitled to it's use, so long as said use does not result in a lack of use for others. So doing something which doesn't harm anyone or anything, on a property you partly own, should be legal. It isn't. Which is why it's legally justified for the police to kick you and make you leave, but not ethically or morally justified.

Actually, it is not in NYC. And, its not like you have much of a choice of a place to go. You can go to an NYC homeless shelter but you would find the sidewalk is much more preferable. Of course, you simply dismissing what I have to say about my homelessness experience with the police is a common and sad attitude. It is that attitude that allows the powerless to have no power and the police to continue their oppressive tactics.

It's illegal to kick people. It's called assault.

Depends on where you live. Years ago, when I worked in a pretty bad neighborhood, no one called the cops unless they had to...dead bodies and gunshot wounds. Someone took your tv, you bought a new one or went without. The cops weren't going to do anything about it...unless you paid them a little bonus. Some of the cops in that neighborhood were worse than the gangs.

I have lived in places with good cops and I have lived in places with bad cops but nothing every came close to what I saw with the NYPD. I don't have a criminal record. Never been arrested and have never even a traffic ticket. In fact in other place around the country I rarely even interacted with the police. That completely changed in NYC for the short time I found myself at the bottom of the economic barrel. When you have no power they will walk all over you. Luckily I was able to change my situation fairly quickly. I can't imagine what it's like for someone who is chronically homeless.
