Definitely a mixture of both, but the ratio depends on the day.

What do you mean by "local?" I don't really keep up at all with state, county, or tribal news.

The lion's share of the news I get is American. As I pointed out a few times I mostly get it through Twitter and 4chan, and American news is very prominent.

Though I do browse /int/, which is the international board, regularly. I also follow a wide variety of people on Twitter and check what's trending every now and then.
Trust is knowing someone or something well enough to have a good idea of their motivations and character, for good or for ill. People often say trust when they mean faith.

Both. We do NPR in the car, whatever Connie crap radio here is popular at work, Faux at most restaurants, whatever news aggregation Bing uses at work, Google at home. I generally check the Atlantic, NYT, the Guardian, and I get the base Navy paper (a distribution point is right outside my office...ita also good for craft projects involving newspaper), which is about 2/3 of the local news here.

Much more global. There isn't much here, locally! The big whoop-tee-doo this week here was that a snake got into a power station and the power was out for about an hour in the middle of the night, so some folks woke up to blinking alarm clocks.

I do local via the morning news (if I am up and only as I am putting on my face for work!). Mostly it's through my daily podcast subscription to Air Talk. It is both local (my state news and interesting topics) and global (whatever is in the news that day).

I get a lot of global news on reddit of all places. And I do browse Huff post, Salon and Slate.

At amusement parks, are you drawn more to
the scariest roller coaster or the tamest merrygo-
                  round? Why?

Anywhere where I can win teddybears really! But of the two, merrygoround. I don't like heights...

To be honest, neither. I go for the elephant ears.
Every moment of a life is a horrible tragedy, a slapstick comedy, dark nihilism, golden illumination, or nothing at all; depending on how we write the story we tell ourselves.

None. Rides make me claustrophobic, I also hate the crowds and the noise and the smells. Sensory overload drives me nuts. I'm getting stressed just thinking about it.

For me, amusement parks are a way to escape the normalcy of life. I would rather spend the time meditating or walking - in the outdoors.

When I was a kid (including teen years) I liked the scary rides. I grew out of that. Our sense of balance tends to change as we age & they may or may not have something to do with it. These days I'd go on a standard ferris wheel, and that's about it.

The faster and scarier the better, mainly because I like the adrenaline rush and because I have to prove to myself I'm not scared to ride it
