    Looking for a coven``

I have been a solitary for most of my pagan life, with the exception of 2 years in the beginning when I was with a coven. I enjoyed the camaraderie, the learning, and the friendship. I don't really need a coven but I think I would like to try and find one. Mind you, I want one that is established. I have looked online at sites like Witchvox and found two in a 2 hour radius. The one in Athens is a little far for me to drive, and the other one is not up to date on its website and I sent an email and have not heard anything back. So how did you find your group if your in a group or coven? Or how would you besides witchvox? There is a FB page for local pagans and I hit that up to see if anyone was holding an open circle for Imbolc so well see what I find.

Whats your thoughts on a coven? Do you prefer to be a solo or would you like to practice with a group?

Facebook has a number of groups out there if you use the search function. You might enter something like "Pagan Study Group" or "Coven" and the name of your region/town/state/etc.

I dislike social situations so much that I'm certain that any attempt on my part of joining a group would not end well. I prefer the solo route or practicing with my wife.

You might find a group that is putting on classes or through a local "Pagan store" or book store.
When contacting a group you may find that in order to get an answer you may have to contact them three times. Groups get hit a lot by folks who have no desire to spend the necessary time or energy to join a group.

Covens, groves, nests or temples offer more than just faith based support. It is a lot like being adopted into a new family. You can count on your group to help anytime the you need extra hands. The first tradition I was initiated in helped me put a new roof on my home. I helped others in the group with my gifts as well. You get a more structured education from a group and generally that education includes things that cannot be gained through books.

Perhaps you could try at the Unitarian Universalists? They might have Pagan groups or members.

I have contacted one of the members of the UU church. We shall see how things go. It's been a very long time since I have been with a group but I think I'd be nice.

Errr, I'm about as secretive in real life as I am on the web. A coven/circle/group/etc would imply some remote degree of trust and openness....

With that said, best of luck finding one you like.

I would like a coven mainly because I am a bit flimsy with my magical practice and meeting new magical people can be very informative and enjoyable on many other levels, but I am also practiced in and love to learn new things constantly of both 'light' and 'dark' paths and certain people I have gotten close to or had intense metaphysical conversations with are either too afraid of the left-hand path or hate it, because of ignorance usually, so much they come off as elitist and/or preach concepts they don't actually understand. The same goes for left-hand path practitioners that are against the 'white light' practices, but not out of fear, but because they believe it is all nonsense, love and light hogwash. I am more in the middle - they both have great truths and intriguing concepts and practical techniques and they are both filled with dogmatic drivel that really is not good to the seeker of consciousness.

What you're doing is what I did to find these magical people (online forums), but I was lucky enough to network in person because one of my friends introduced to me to a 'magical drinking club' where I came in contact with another practitioner that wanted to take the meetings to a new level, but I have been missing out on meetings and lectures because of work and family time. I also became very open with my friends and family about my beliefs and practices where I do not so much have a coven but a group of people that understand me on a more intimate and honest level and we can have really great conversations from time to time where I can learn from their magical experiences or balance my life with my more 'mundane' friends by learning to think outside the magical box and be human around other humans (like at work).

Well so far I haven't been responded too. There will be an open circle held by coven of druids for Imbolc that I would like to attend but other then that I haven't heard anything. I will keep poking about and seeing what I can find.
