I was actually having this conversation last night with a co-worker. We decided breast feeding mothers should put sparkles and bedazzle their breasts. Then they can show them just like all those gals on the red carpet, in magazines, on the music videos, on the news, in public. Just like a live human being.

It's so full of bs. But sparkles will make it just like you are Beyonce showing off your tatas. Then it's totally acceptable.

I have never met a person who gets icky about this. Thankfully in the UK we have laws that state a woman can breastfeed wherever she wishes in a public place. Scotland goes further, and it is a criminal offence to stop a woman breastfeeding in public.

Human breast milk is fundamentally the same as cow's milk, a nourishing substance created by millions of years of mammalian evolution. Breasts are part of what makes our species MAMMALS. MAMMARY GLANDS.

If human breast milk is no different from other human bodily fluids, then these people would surely see no problem with exchanging the liquid on their bowl of cereal for cow piss or half a pint of bull semen. No? Didn't think so. At least the Daily Mail is ranting at the right people for once.

However, since it's the Daily Mail, I'm tempted to think that none of this ever actually happened. They're such awful reporters.

The article isn't what did it, it was the comments

(never read the comments--I broke my own rule!)
“You have never answered but you did not need to. If I stand at the ocean I can hear you with your thousand voices. Sometimes you shout, hilarious laughter that taunts all questions. Other nights you are silent as death, a mirror in which the stars show themselves. Then I think you want to tell me something, but you never do. Of course I know I have written letters to no-one. But what if I find a trident tomorrow?" ~~Letters to Poseidon, Cees Nooteboom

“We still carry this primal relationship to the Earth within our consciousness, even if we have long forgotten it. It is a primal recognition of the wonder, beauty, and divine nature of the Earth. It is a felt reverence for all that exists. Once we bring this foundational quality into our consciousness, we will be able to respond to our present man-made crisis from a place of balance, in which our actions will be grounded in an attitude of respect for all of life. This is the nature of real sustainability.”
    ~~Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee

"We are the offspring of history, and must establish our own paths in this most diverse and interesting of conceivable universes--one indifferent to our suffering, and therefore offering us maximal freedom to thrive, or to fail, in our own chosen way."
~~Stephen Jay Gould, Wonderful Life: The Burgess Shale and the Nature of History

"Humans are not rational creatures. Now, logic and rationality are very helpful tools, but there’s also a place for embracing our subjectivity and thinking symbolically. Sometimes what our so-called higher thinking can’t or won’t see, our older, more primitive intuition will." John Beckett

I totally agree with you, thal! Stuff like this is so frustrating.

I just have to comment on this one, because this attitude drives me so crazy:

"As a woman I find this story gross!!!! Women insist of being treated equal but still INSIST of opened doors, women first and all of that! Who cares! Be a woman. be proud and keep your dignity! You want to drink your own breastmilk YUK but your choice, do it with consideration for others!"

Oh really? We insist on being treated equal but insist on open doors? I think you seem to think that "being treated equal" means accepting and conforming to the realities of the male dominated workplace, even though they absolutely do not meet the needs of half of a gender balanced workforce. No, the rules of the game have to change. Letting women pump breast milk at work, letting parents of both genders take time off when their kids are sick and have flexible hours to take their kids to school and creating parental leave policies (which I think should be at the state level, because it should be a right and not a privilege) are part of that.

This is one of the most funniest rants I ever read.
