Was wondering if anyone else has noticed the increase in Scarlet Fever cases lately? While most of the news I've seen is coming out of England there are reports showing up in parts of the US as well.
As to why I really do not know. A few reports said its a cyclic outbreak and occurs every so often. Of course there are the "Refugee" theorist who say the increase is due to the influx of refugee's into the outbreak areas.
One thing is for certain it seems it's enough of an increase in cases that it's making various news feeds, the CDC is reporting on it and I presume that the AMA and other's are telling US doctor's to be on the watch out for it.
That it's caused by the same bacteria that can cause strep throat seems to suggest it can be fairly easy to pass.
