If memory serves here, this process is a long one. I suspect we will be almost out of this term before we reach a conclusion. So we would end up with a very brief Pelosi presidency if they were both ousted.

Yeah, the system is "organized" rather simply...but I'm talking in terms of ramifications, mainly from followers. If Trump being in office empowered racists/violence, then the spectacle of the ongoing proceedings are going to get even uglier. And with the turn over, yeah Pelosi can step in, but then the "us vs them" mentality of the two party system is gonna make a gridlock on actually getting anything fixed or improved.
Maybe I'm just being pessimistic, but even if everything goes smoothly with the impeachment and we manage to you know, get the kids out of cages and stop with the homestead terrorism, there's still a lot of trauma to process, and a lot of noise that's going to be drowning everything else out.

Even being impeached doesn't mean he'll be removed from office. People seem to forget that has already happened as well. Clinton was impeached and remained in office. it also doesn't mean he couldn't run for a second term of office and win again.

Ehh, I put even odds on people forgetting and people just not feeling like saying, "Impeached and convicted" every time so they use Impeach and expect the other party to understand they mean both. I can safely say that I'm well aware that Impeachmemt is step 1 in a 2 step procedure. I can also safely say that I'm lazy so there is a distinct possibility that I have not always said, "impeached and convicted."

―Thon
"When to the Force you truly give yourself, all you do expresses the truth of who you are,"
Yoda
Yoda told stories, and ate, and cried, and laughed: and the Padawans saw that life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.
Yoda: Dark Rendezvous
"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."
John Rowlands, The Grey King by Susan Cooper
"You come from the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve", said Aslan. "And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth; be content."
Aslan, Prince Caspian by CS Lewis
I'd agree that people probably have forgotten. I just find it funny. The media, celebs, the general public all screaming "Impeach" yet it doesn't mean it will be a conviction or removal from office. We've had two sitting Presidents impeached and neither was convicted nor removed from office. Realistically, there won't be a conviction here either.

It will tell us, though, which politicians are interested in protecting a law-breaking president, and which are interested in protecting the Constitution of The United States of America.
One of those indicates a patriot, the other a traitor to the country.
Usually, things are confusing, and right and wrong are, perhaps, subject to interpretation. Sometimes, though, there are only two sides, one is clearly right, the other is clearly wrong, and each person has to decide which side they are on because not chosing puts you on the side of "wrong."
This is one of those times.

I can't do everything, but I can do something.
Well, today's press conference with the Presidents of the USA and Finland was...interesting. Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders had heart surgery. I wonder if he'll continue his campaign. He has good ideas, but they have loose ends. Medicare for all sounds great, but as it is now, Medicare for seniors costs about $135./month for the additional parts you need, and even all that doesn't provide the level of coverage you get pre-Medicare from a private-pay or employer-based plan. So what are they going to do? Offer a better package and charge everyone $1K a month? Offer the same as it is now and make people pay more in taxes for it? Either way, (excuse me for sounding jaded, but I am jaded), I don't see a possible scenario where people will get as good or better insurance than what's in place now, and have the same amount of money left at the end of the month, particularly Social Security recipients. Remember, the ACA was supposed to solve all these problems, but every loophole that could be found, was.
Can you hear me, Major Tom? I think I love you.
