16 hours of work, 4 hours of sleep, 12 hours of work.

    Dolla dolla bills, y'all.
We are all these things [...]. Pride, desire, compassion, cleverness, belligerence, fruitfulness, loyalty...and guilt. But above it all stands love. And if we desire to be more than human, that is the star by which we must set our sights.

Questions of science, science and progress, do not speak as loud as my heart.

    Hot Pickle!

You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.

“Leaving is not enough. You must stay gone. Train your heart like a dog. Change the locks even on the house he’s never visited. You lucky, lucky girl. You have an apartment just your size. A bathtub full of tea. A heart the size of Arizona, but not nearly so arid. Don’t wish away your cracked past, your crooked toes, your problems are papier mache puppets you made or bought because the vendor at the market was so compelling you just had to have them. You had to have him. And you did. And now you pull down the bridge between your houses, you make him call before he visits, you take a lover for granted, you take a lover who looks at you like maybe you are magic. Make the first bottle you consume in this place a relic. Place it on whatever altar you fashion with a knife and five cranberries. Don’t lose too much weight. Stupid girls are always trying to disappear as revenge. And you are not stupid. You loved a man with more hands than a parade of beggars, and here you stand. Heart like a four-poster bed. Heart like a canvas. Heart leaking something so strong they can smell it in the street.”

My kitchen windows are frozen shut. From the inside. I have big lumps of ice in my window sill. Because when they built this block back in the 50's they thought "hey, this is Scandinavia. Who needs insulation!" So now I'm defrosting my kitchen. There is no insulation in the building. But at least the other rooms have heating. It's usually not that much of a problem, but right now we're having cold coming down from Siberia. It's the coldest we've had in 31 years.

That totally sucks. I'm spoiled with American heating and cooling. I get grumpy if the kitchen floor is chilly, let alone frozen. I don't tolerate the cold well. And my daughter has inherited it. She will go from happy to complete meltdown if she gets too cold (which is really annoying in a four year old).

My life is quickly evolving into revolving around my kid. I'm not so sure that I'm happy with that... Like, mostly what I've done at home has involved her, but before now I was working nearly twice as many hours, and five days a week. The majority of my days were spent working. Being at home the majority of the time with it being just me and her means that we are starting to spend waaay too much time together without people our own ages. Trying to work on widening our social network is slow and tedious for me.

Had my second Geology 101 test today, but I don't think I did too well. I didn't get to study as much as I could have. Work has been taking a toll on me. I come home and just collapse. However, I try to take notes while I am at home so I am ahead. Ugh. Plus this week and next week I work for days, Friday to Monday. Lord Anubis help me.

Meh, tech is tech. I get tired of the stupid shit people do with it and I read an article earlier today that leads me to believe that humanity is not mature enough to handle twitter (this probably extends to facebook and other similar issues) in a safe and responsible manner but that's an indictment of humanity not technology. I like tech for the most part.
"It is not simply enough to know the light…a Jedi must feel the tension between the two sides of the Force…in himself and in the universe."
    ―Thon

"When to the Force you truly give yourself, all you do expresses the truth of who you are,"

    Yoda

Yoda told stories, and ate, and cried, and laughed: and the Padawans saw that life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.

    Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."

John Rowlands, The Grey King by Susan Cooper

"You come from the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve", said Aslan. "And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth; be content."

Aslan, Prince Caspian by CS Lewis
