    Close-up magic

I recently started getting in to close up magic. So I just wanted to see if anyone else here shares that interest?
I'm really new to it. Right now I'm just spending a lot of time on card handling and dropping stuff I'm trying to palm but it's a lot of fun. And so satisfying when a trick works out and you can show it to someone.
    Anyway. Anyone else around?
You remind me of the babe
    What babe?
    The babe with the power
    What power?
    The Power of voodoo
    Who do?
    You do!
    Do what?
    Remind me of the babe!

I did card stuff when younger, got pretty good at palming and dealing from the bottom of the deck. You do your practice in front of a mirror. I could cut one handed and also deal one handed. mainly learned from a book by an reformed card shark. close up magic is cool. Also really good for hand dexterity.

I've got a few cuts and flourishes down fairly well, I can do a pretty good gambler's cop too. But palmed cards are still kind of poking out on the side of my hand... Or visible through my fingers I'm better with palming coins and stuff that size. I do have a few simple card tricks down fairly well. And a bit of mentalism (which is honestly the bit I enjoy most, but I figure any magician worth their salt should be able to handle cards).
Do you remember what the book was? I've been looking for a good resource on cards. Right now I'm working with YouTube videos and Mark Wilson's complete course in magic.
I'm sure it's great for the hands. Right now my fingers are a bit sore all the time, but I figure that'll pass when I get used to the movements.

I'm so jealous of you guys. Meanwhile, I can't even shuffle cards like a normal person. My hands are pretty dexterous, but when it comes to shuffling a deck of cards, I might as well have oven mitts on my hands.

Heh, V. I think it's a matter of practise. I used to just drop the cards everywhere when I tried to shuffle.

some of it is muscle memory, practice does help with time. also doing kind of exercise with fingers. I got pretty good doing this.

also you can use powder on the cards,to help them not stick.

Oh I've been looking for a good guide in springing cards. Thanks.
I've never heard of fanning powder... But i haven't really had a problem with sticking cards.

In getting alright at these cuts

Oh man, I'd definitely drop the deck trying this. It never even occurred to me that I could watch youtube videos to learn to shuffle cards, haha. I just accepted that I suck at it and that's that.

I did just throw them everywhere the first couple of times. 3 days of practise and I can do it without looking at the cards. You get used to handling them super quickly... I'm extremely stubborn. That helps
