    Harvesting cherries

Started picking over the cherry trees today!

So far, we've get about 5 gallons of 'em.

    Next step, pie and jam!

What about making some into a Port?

There is a Winery here in the Columbia Gorge that used to make a very delicious Cherry Ort, which has unfortunately been discontinued now. I'm not a wine drinker, but I liked this stuff.

    Cherry Port... yummy!

I've had this one before, and it was splendid:

But makine wine (and especially port) is a long-term process, and I don't think I want to go there. Also, while I make great beer, my wine making skills are pretty poor.

i also love a very good port, some over 50 years or even 100 year port. kind of expensive but well worth the price if it is done right.

    Yummy.

Back when I lived in Germany, our farm had a couple of cherry trees by the garden and I remember climbing it to pick and eat cherries until my belly hurt. So good!!!

Theres a pub down the road, small country thing, quiet, good for shenanigans. They do their own port, called Copley Wobbley. It's terribly cheap stuff, probably just poured from a bigger bottle into their bottles for profit, but man is it delicious. Does what it says though, you'll definitley go to sleep and wake up wobbley haha

I buy cherries every week and eat them all! How about cherry preserves? They are great served with meat. Or like a spread on a turkey sandwich.
    *munches cherry.

Yup - that's what they shall become.

I've spent two days pitting cherries...
