                Various forms of iphone over the years appear to have an issue with saving pictures sideways. It's an easy fix once the photo is on a computer. A basic editor can rotate the pic and save it. The problem is that I haven't owned or worked extensively with an iphone in years so while there may be an easy fix on the iphone itself, I don't have one to test things. You might be able bypass it by taking photos sideways with volume buttons facing down but I've seen mixed comments on that. You might also be able to simply rotate the photo in the iphone itself. I haven't got one to test it. There may also be an app to deal with it somewhere.
