I'll use Corbin's analogy and do the minimum of work. I agree with all of you.
Gargoyles watch over me...I can hear them snicker in the dark.

Pull the operating handle (which protrudes from the right side of the receiver) smartly to the rear and release it.

If I'm wrong, please tell me. I'm not too proud to change my ideas.

    Re: What is magic?

I'm not sure how I feel about energy and all that yet because I'm trying to look at it from a scientific point of view and I'm just not smart enough to grasp the basic concepts.

As of right now, I think that magic is psychological. It's a way to focus your own wants and needs into a coherent thought process in order to better tackle the problems at hand. If you cast a spell to gain peace of mind, for example, and you honestly believe that it will work-it will. Your mind expects itself to become more calm and relaxed. In turn, it actually does these things.

I reserve the right to change my mind at any time, but as of now that's my opinion.

The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant compared to the power of the Force.

    Re: What is magic?

Everything. Saves me trouble, the omniverse and eerything contained within it is magic.

Sorcery, wizardry, witchcraft, technology, skillful propaganda, etc are all all varying methods of accessing the inherent magic of existence and turning a small fraction of it to accomplishing a specific interest.
"It is not simply enough to know the light…a Jedi must feel the tension between the two sides of the Force…in himself and in the universe."
    ―Thon

"When to the Force you truly give yourself, all you do expresses the truth of who you are,"

    Yoda

Yoda told stories, and ate, and cried, and laughed: and the Padawans saw that life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.

    Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."

John Rowlands, The Grey King by Susan Cooper

"You come from the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve", said Aslan. "And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth; be content."

Aslan, Prince Caspian by CS Lewis

    Re: What is magic?

There are no happier people on this planet than those who decide that they want something, define what they want, get hold of the feeling of it even before it's manifestation and then joyously watch the unfolding as, piece by piece by piece, it begins to unfold.

Paraphrased from a friend who paraphrased from somewhere else. Kinda defines it, loosely, for me. Or at least part of it.

Can you hear me, Major Tom? I think I love you.
