"Multicultural Manners". A friend picked it up for me at a library sale. It's exactly 20 years out of date, but interesting nonetheless.

The Torture Garden, by Octave Mirbeau. Decadent and cynical French literature. Painfully contemporary...
Every moment of a life is a horrible tragedy, a slapstick comedy, dark nihilism, golden illumination, or nothing at all; depending on how we write the story we tell ourselves.

Myth=Mithya: a handbook of Hindu Mythology
A human being is part of the whole, called by us 'Universe,' limited in time and space. He experiences himself...as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a prison for us... Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the of whole nature in its beauty...

I'm on the third book in the series!

The whole family is taking turns reading them - we read Harry Potter the same way.

it's a series? Great, because it sounds very promising! (I'm still only two chapters into it.)

Finished Amp. I'm glad I decided to pick this back up. The first time around I couldn't get into it. This time I couldn't put it down!

Now on to a rabies type epidemic that wants to END THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT!!!!
Eh. Tooth and Nail by Craig DiLouie. Sorta styled like Jonathan Maberry's Joe Ledger series. Military stuff and gore. Good times.

Listening to Infection by Craig Diloulie. Omg. End of the world virus again. Only with giant worms and squishy baboon like critters with insect legs. I don't know where it went off course. But I'm knees deep in weird viral creatures. :=I:

As someone who works in retail, it makes my day to listen to the mass population being eaten or turned into zombies.

                          .........

This is almost an adequate argument to make me re-evaluate zombie movies.....

                          Well done.
life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.

                          Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."
