      ^That's it.
"So far, it is the only Finnish novel to be adapted into a Hollywood film"

      Wikipedia
Tells something about the state of Finnish literature that the only novel ever made it to Hollywood is about Ancient Egypt.

Maybe it says something about Hollywood?

        I don't know... I don't think I've ever read a Finnish novel...

Nope. I finished one once, but I had to skip the 238 boring pages in the middle.

^That's indeed not an easy task. :P

Adding another book to my currently reading-list: Everyday Zen by Charlotte Joko Beck. I like it. Thought it would be fluffy but it's not. A down-to-earth zen manual without too much decorative language and sanskrit terms. I'd recommend to non-zen people too! (As if I was a zen person. I'm not. In fact, I used to avoid it because I thought American Zen folks were just the punk rockers of the Buddhist scene...)

I just bought this in an attempt to get my brother to read Lovecraft, since the only thing he'll read is comic books. He read the first story in the book (Call of Cthulhu) and said that it was boring. He said that the "Old English" made it difficult to read, and that it would have been better if, instead of the guy just telling the story, it had "actually shown the story".

                              No, I don't know either -_-

Yikes, all that cultural appropriation that used to be here tho

OK there is actually a Genre known as Bizarro Fiction that this book and others fall under..Was news to me.

Bizarro fiction is a contemporary literary genre, which often utilizes elements of absurdism, satire, and the grotesque, along with pop-surrealism and genre fiction staples, in order to create subversive works that are as weird and entertaining as possible.
