    In Hospital

Hey guys, just wanted to let everyone know I'm currently in a hospital in Tyler, Tx and will be in it until some time next week.

I had surgery on Wednesday for ankle hardware removal. I had gotten a staph infection where they had placed in my rod back in September. That area of skin had died off instead of healing which left me with an open wound for months. When it finally healed up a few weeks back, it began to swell and leak green puss. Got it cultured and since I have a history already of bone infection in the ankle they decided to remove the hardware that was put in during my September ankle bone fusing. They wanted to ensure that if the infection hadn't already attached itself to my hardware that wouldn't, so they removed it and are treating it as if it was a bone infection for safe measure. They called in a Infection Specialist to work on me. He ordered a picc line placement for IV antibiotics for my ankle and oral antibiotics for the general knee infection that I finally got cultured and taken seriously. (You guys remember that post, right?) So now I'm finally being treated for my two infections at a hospital and they are very determined to get me back to full health. I'm very happy about that. Hopefully this will be my last surgery on my ankle because, well, there isn't anything else they could do to it that I know of.

So I could use some nice healing prayers and vibes to help with pain management, quick recovery from surgery, and the banishment of all infections.

    Thanks!!!

Thanks for the recovery wishes and thoughts.

I'm feeling a lot better now that they got me on the right antibiotics for both infections. Surgery site still hurts from time to time, but they have me on some good pain medication for the time being. Right now I'm worried about what my Medicaid will pay for. Seems it will pay for my hospital stay and the medications they have me on while I'm here, but it might not pay for home health care to do the IV antibiotics at home. So I'm worried that because of that they are going to keep me in the hospital until they have given me enough antibiotics....and who knows how long that will be!

Thanks everyone! Your prayers are working! The infection specialist doctor that I ended up with has one heck of an assistant. She came into day saying she was personally going to handle my insurance and that there was no way anything was going to cost me a penny, even if my medicaid wasn't going to cover something. She said her number one job was to ensure my safetly and health. She said there will be no need to have home health care as she was going to train me to do my own IV antibiotics and care for my picc line. I'm going to be on antibiotics for 8 weeks total and during these weeks I'm going to be required to go to Tyler once each week for check ups on my picc line and picking up the next week's antibiotics. She is one dedicated woman that is for sure. I just couldn't believe how easy was making the situation for me and my family. Guess my God and Goddess are working over time on helping me get the right people for the job this time. My stress is like completely gone about the whole ordeal. Now I just have to sit back and relax until they release me from the hospital which should be around Wednesday.

I've been out of the hospital for a week now. (Sorry I'm late on the update.) Been a good week. Pain is real low and so is the swelling. I also got the okay to start walking on it again yesterday. I have to use a fracture boot for about a month though. Also been taking IV antibiotics at home 3 times a day. They are making me sick from time to time, but at least the infections are being treated. I'll keep you guys posted.

                        Thanks for all the prayers!
