Holiday on the Mediterranean. ...Where should I go?

Out of the following choices (I've settled on these because I can get cheap EasyJet flights there:

    -Sardinia (Italian island) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sardinia
    -Barcelona http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barcelona
    -Malaga (Andalusia, Spain) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%A1laga
    -Sorrento (Italy) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sorrento, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amalfi

I would be going in April, between my courses and my job contract ending, and finals. Figured a break before finals might do me some good. Last year I did best on the exam I studied the least for. That doesn't mean I shouldn't study, but maybe my tendency to put a lot of pressure on myself is counterproductive....I often manage to pass that line between motivating stress and life-affecting stress. Also, my doctor told me to take more breaks for the sake of my mental and physical health, and traveling makes me happy. I started planning now because I had a low-point this weekend and planning holidays makes me really happy and gives me something to look forward to past this really sucky winter.

    Thoughts on each:

-Sardinia is appealing, because I'm in the mood to get out of the city, and it seems like there are a variety of things to see there...roman ruins, medieval towns, even some pretty ancient rock circles (COOL). Plus it seems you can hike, ride horses and sit on beaches and see cool caves...basically everything I like to do, condensed. The only thing is, it's hard to get around there without a car, and I'm on a budget. Also, if I go there, I think I might extend what was going to be a 5-day trip to a week, week and a half, which also affects the budget, but maybe I could find some couch surfing places...I'll see I guess. Another 'con' is that I don't know anyone who has been there so no one can tell me first-hand info about the place.

-I've always wanted to go to Barcelona, but haven't been there yet. It's a really cool city and there's tons to do. The 'con' is that I'm currently feeling a bit suffocated by the city. A lot of that is that it's winter and christmas and it's crowded at a time when I just want to hibernate, but yeah....having trouble thinking about it.

-I just looked up flights to Malaga because EasyJet flies there, and I haven't researched it a ton. Andalusia is definitely somewhere I'd like to visit, and the coast is supposed to be beautiful and it's warm. Also lots of nice outdoors things and cultural stuff (I love beach lounging for like a day, but after that I need to DO something!) The con is that flights are only in one-week increments so I HAVE to have the trip be one week, which isn't much longer than I planned but a bit. Also not very flexible on days I can go!

-I admit that I'd LOVE to see Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast, so I put it on there, but I can't really find a cheap flight. It's just somewhere I've always wanted to visit. I could go to Naples and get a train, but Naples is kind of sketchy....

    That sounds lovely.

I've never been to any of those, but Sardinia would be the most appealing to me based on what I've seen/read, or talked about with others who travel in Europe more then I have.

Thanks Dez...it's really where I'm leaning towards but I just have to look up a bit more how feasible it is without a car! I guess I could rent a car but it seems like a large expense and I don't have an EU driver's license and often car rental companies are picky about renting you a car unless you have one or an international driving license (which I'd have to get in Canada).

I would want to go to Barcelona.

...mainly because I've always wanted to, and almost got the chance to have a port call there, but its when the Madrid train bombing happened, and we ended up having to go to Rota instead (bummer).
