    X'ers and Y'ers and Z'ers and Boomers oh my..Now C'ers

Well,it seems we got another generation coming up the pike.

Nielsen said Americans ages 18-34 are some of the most connected people around.

What generation do you fall into???

    Gen Y baby!

I think generations are getting closer together as well, because technology keeps changing the world more rapidly.

Why did Nielsen call it Gen C though? Pretty much ALL marketing professionals are using Gen Y for that exact same age group....It's textbook!

One thing they mentioned in the story is the C generation are the ones eating up all the bandwidth.

I still refuse to validate their renaming Gen Y as Gen C lol.

But Gen Y probably is using all the bandwidth. I'm running 2 computers, a smartphone and a tablet as we speak.

I'm generation X, but I think I'm closer to the 'Me' generation than the Slacker Generation.

I think they're calling the 'Millennial' generation 'C' because it's something to do w/that Roman numeral moreso than anything to do with marketing. I've heard/seen a few things labeling the kids born w/in the last 10 years or so the 'iGen', lol.

Weirdly, that's what's in the burner at this very moment.

Perzephone, I think I prefer eulogiboomer. But not protoyuppie.

                      If you're born after 1963 or before 1978, you're X.

If you're born before '63, you actually still are a boomer (just the tail end).

I see what you mean, but demographics are something that's extremely important in marketing and the study of marketing. They don't make them up, but rather go into intense studies about it. What I find amusing is that Nielsen, a marketing research company, has decided to rename a generation already deeply studied.

Depending on who you ask I either fall under Gen X (tail end) or Gen Y . I guess that makes me cool enough to eat up your bandwith but not cool enough for most except Pepsi.

I consider myself Gen X...depending on whose dates (like Strauss-Howe) you go with, it either ends in the late 70s or early 80's...I was born in 80, and I identify with Gen X events as being cornerstones of my childhood.

Even in '84 though I still identify with a bit of Gen X....like the pop culture and such. I think my values are a lot in tune with Gen Y though. Every time I read an article about Gen Y and working styles, or Gen Y and consumption patterns, I'm like 'ya that's me'

I don't understand why they'd rename Gen Y Gen C. I'm Gen Y, but I'm really not up on technology like some people are.
