Suicide Rates Rise Sharply in U.S.

Just found this on google news. I was a bit surprised ,but not a lot surprised with this fact. The way our economy has shifted and with the middle class has shrunk I can see why some people just give up and want out. I guess many see that they wont have a lot of money for retirement, and panic about getting old.
In the story the range is like 35-64 where the rate is rising. As a retired boomer on a small income from SS,I never gave that a thought because I was always kinda lower/poor range so learned to live on less and budgeted with my living expense's. To much money might make you a little to used to getting everything with no need to be frugal and can come back to bite you in the butt when you are looking at retirement.
Besides with medicine moving towards much longer life spans,I may finally be able to implement(Mo HA HA HAHA) my plan for world domination.

The suicide rate among middle-age Americans rose 30 percent from 1999 to 2010, with more people now dying of suicide than in car accidents.

If you conquer the world then I'm sending the planet's bill in undelivered sanity and pizza to you. Just thought I'd mention that the planet is far behind on its required pizza tributes before you go and put yourself in position to receive the bill.

    That's a disturbing number though.
life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.

    Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."

John Rowlands, The Grey King by Susan Cooper

"You come from the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve", said Aslan. "And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth; be content."

Aslan, Prince Caspian by CS Lewis

The comments hit harder for me than the actual article does.

Similar thing here in the UK. Only recently a grandmother killed herself, blaming the hated 'bedroom tax' for the fact she could no longer afford to live: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news...phanie-1883600
