Access to 'Esoteric/Alternative Spirituality' websites being blocked in the UK?

Hey guys, I came across this petition on another website, which is claiming that voluntary web filters in place in the UK are blocking out websites related to alternative spirituality and occult/esoteric subjects, and that they will be included in the planned 'opt in' filter. Anyone able to confirm whether this is going on, or provide more information?

Meh i've heard it going around, at the moement im just going to wait and see, at the end of the day if they do block sites that wouldn't allow for example this site or anything other than the mainstream religious sites. then im pretty sure every pagan in the uk will kick off and protest. and to be fair that would be a (in a fashion) better thing for the british pagan community then just getting the sites taken off the filter before hand.

think about it we take them off before hand its quiet no attension drawn end of story.

but we rally and protest for the estoteric sites to be removed afterwards (if the are blocked) then the situation will be in the eye of the public and of the government. and due to the human rights act that our gov chooses to follow and uphold they will have to allow those sites through. and this will create more of a legal precedent for the rights of pagans within the uk. which could/should tumble into other aspects of law and society.

This had better not happen. Our religious beliefs are nothing to be censored and we have suffered such madness for far too long. Has some right wing nut job some how gotten into power over there? It has been close to fifty years since those disgusting witchcraft laws were done away with in England and now they go and do this?! If they should do this they shall find that they will suffer for it because they have been fools.

I already signed a petition against this a few weeks ago. I wouldn't worry too much, it isn't going anywhere. Also, there'll be an option to not have these blocks if it does go through.

But yeah, I wouldn't worry just yet. Just Cameron attempting to push his own morality on everyone else. Dunno where all those other block suggestions came from though, considering he's only mentioned blocking porn. Regardless, I'm against any kind of internet censorship, so if it goes ahead, I'll be out there protesting too, opt out option or no.
Yikes, all that cultural appropriation that used to be here tho

There are places at which I work from time to time that have Pagan Forum blocked because it filters as "occult". I can think of a couple of places off the top of my head, one of them being a hospital and the other is a fast-food place I had lunch at a few weeks ago. I think I even posted a picture of that in one of the [lol] threads. However, one of the school districts we also test... it wasn't blocked so that's nice.
