Your experiences are just as valid as mine or anyone else's, and you have just as much right to voice them and have them be heard.

It just seemed like you felt you were arguing against us when in fact we were all saying the same thing (in regards to the Nornir not changing futures or preventing deaths etc). We actually all agree on that point. The only thing that you said that I don't agree with is that it's 'pointless' to work with the Nornir or even make offerings to them.

If it helps at all, I did say this in my first long post...

Wednesday is absolutely right in this regard... They don't work with people in the same way that other deities do. They wont speak on your behalf or change something or help with your magick. That's just not going to happen.
Your thoughts were recognised, just buried deep in my waffling.

Hey Wednesday, outbursts are fine. And I'm sure your tree will be too!

we are all learning from each other. Your absolutes make us think again. So it's helpful.

I think we all agree, it's just realising that we all agree!!

The night I posted we were hit hy a violent storm which flattened the trees on my property. I'm pretty sure stating the views I had on the Norns affected my luck. Now my view from the backyard is the wide open sky which inspired me to look at the 'bigger picture'.

In continental Germanic mythology there isn't any mention of the Norns but are thousands of Matronae votive stones. I tend to be a continental rconstructionist rather than a Norse but I often intertwine Norse mythology into this. Mistake in this case. The matronae (mothers) are three women, usually a younger woman with two older women. They've been likened to the Norns, the fates, and the Triple Goddess concept. The difference is that their worship wasvery prevelant among the Germanics; they're often depicted with baskets of fruits and bread (fertility), dogs (death), and staffs and looms (life).

So I made an offering in three small bowls, to honor the bigger picture and the experience of that, including my own thread in the tapestry of mysteries. The offering was water to represent the well of wyrd, with a small drop of blood (pin prick) in each to represent my own small participation. Later, two ravens flew across the now open skyline.

Make of that what you will.

Honestly, the only reason I know that is because 'diphthong' was such a cool word that I had to look it up... and it kept popping up in my attempts to learn Old Norse.

The unfortunate thing about trying to learn a languages is that you have to get in on the linguistic jargon, which is the bit I suck at lol. Try learning a pronunciation when the books all talk at you in diphthongs and fricatives and unvoiced nasal whatsits. You end up sitting there shouting "Yes, but what does that meeeeaaaaannnn???"

I don't do linguistic jargon, and I picked a language that doesn't have it. Indonesian has not tense, and none of that dative/genitive confusing shit. Or maybe it does and I just don't care. Maybe both. But it's phonetically written in Roman alphabet too, so it's sooooo easy to pronounce. Indonesian is awesome. I've been saying that a lot lately :P
