    Huckabee and sex-loving women

What is with these idiots these days?

If they are really intent on slitting their own throats in public, they should at least use real knives.

That guy should really shut up. Twice.

Mind you, I think women should be responsible for themselves and the Feds shouldn't be involved (I think state programs are better and more individualized) I don't think anyone can take it seriously when said with hyperbole and from a man known for socially conservative views.

You know, I don't have a problem with national standards for programs, but I agree that letting (or even encouragement through mandate) states oversee how they are implemented is better because it allows for more individualization. But, I think there needs to be a minimum standard because, well...if there wasn't we'd still have states living in the 1950s and even the 1850s...

I really like the encouragement through money option myself. That still allows for freedom of the state but still has basic standards. I'm not some draconian 'no birth control for you' sort of person, because that's just dumb...though I'm annoyed with the new insurance standards, since now single gay men and post menopausal women have to buy insurance with birth control and maternity coverage....makes NO sense. But that's an entirely separate discussion.

There are a lot of debatables out there, but why is it that prominent politicians can't debate them without resorting to tactics that look more like monkeys flinging poop than humans discussing issues?

Because they aren't trying to convince each other. They're trying to motivate a large audience that is frequently too lazy to do its own research and cheap tricks work for that goal.
life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.

            Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."

John Rowlands, The Grey King by Susan Cooper

"You come from the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve", said Aslan. "And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth; be content."

Its always confusing to me how Huckabee and Co. are all for small government, until it comes to regulating other people's personal lives...

Isn't that just the saddest thing?

I mean, I have found through intelligent conversation that most liberals and conservatives, when rational and NOT freaking out can have smart conversations and reach reasonable compromises. Yet here are a bunch of supposedly mature adults and this is the sort of behavior I see?

Because clearly, that was productive....meh. They all disappoint me.

The Ozark region is firmly planted in the 1950's!!! I think state's rights have gone too far. The USA is like a family with 50 unruly kids, where the parents have lost control.

If it makes you feel better, the GOP did boot her out of the party and do not support her.....

Interesting. I can't help but wonder it that would have been their reaction if she looked like Sarah Palin.

Please tell me you aren't going there. Because frankly, that's sexism at its finest. Palin has said a lot of terribly boneheaded things too; whatever is between her legs and whether she's attractive or not doesn't matter.

Idiocy and being swayed by a "pretty" face happens on both sides of the aisle, thanks.

Yes, it does happen on both sides, and about both men and women. I hear an awful lot of tolerance for the stereotypically attractive, and lack of such for those who aren't. There are more fat jokes about Chris Christie than there are statements about his policies, for example.

But, back to the topic.....I'm waiting for a right wing pharmacist to refuse to dispense Viagra to an unmarried man. Then we can talk about libido control. Lol
