    Trying to learn about Paganism

Hi my name is heather and I am on the path to learn more about the different pagan religions and which one is right for me. I am having trouble finding reliable books. I was hoping that joining this forum would lead me in the right direction. If you have any suggestions in well written, reliable sources of information I would really appreciate the help.

hmm, lists, we have those around here somewhere...

life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.

    Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."

John Rowlands, The Grey King by Susan Cooper

"You come from the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve", said Aslan. "And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth; be content."

Aslan, Prince Caspian by CS Lewis

Drawing Down the Moon by Margot Adler.

Some of the info is a little dated, but as an introduction and historical ethnography of contemporary Paganism (mostly as it developed in the US) it will give you a decent overview of most of the major traditions and some smaller ones as well.

Paganism: an introduction to earth based religions by Joyce and River Higginbotham is pretty good too, but its more an introduction to contemporary (eclectic) Paganism, not so much about individual traditions...if I remember correctly.

TBH, you might have to just research individual paths on their own terms, I don't know (off the top of my head) of any book that manages to hit a majority of the traditions.

Welcome to the forum hon! Some good books are True Magick by Amber K and Scott Cunningham's books. He wrote really great books and thank goodness they still sell them.
