Well of course they will. A leopard doesn't change its spots. Think of the frog and the scorpion fable.

How Cameron will probably respond to giving more power to the Scottish people.

Also, I've seen a lot of videos which show electoral fraud occurring during the count. There was one where a counter was seen taking an entire pile of yes votes and putting them on the no pile. In addition there are a lot of images going around that were taken from a sky news report covering the referendum, as well as other sources, as the votes were being counted, which properly show yes votes being counted as no votes.

I'm not going so far as to say that it would have been a yes vote without the fraud, but I have to wonder.

I do hope that people demand another vote if those promises are not met. The Scots inspired the world...I hope they don`t lose their fire!

This I 200% agree with. If England screws em' over, revote.

I hope so, for Wales and for Scotland.

                What the UK already has:

                a British Parliament
                a Scottish Parliament
                a Welsh Parliament, called Assembly
                a Northern Irish Parliament

                What the UK still needs:

                an English Parliament

                -------------------------------------

I hope this can be discussed "ad causam" and not "ad personam" - id est: Without calling Larix an idiot again ...

                  Re: Scottish Vote for Independence

An English Parliament is nothing new:

The Parliament of England was the legislature of the Kingdom of England. In 1066, William of Normandy introduced a feudal system, by which he sought the advice of a council of tenants-in-chief (a person who held land) and ecclesiastics before making laws. In 1215, the tenants-in-chief secured Magna Carta from King John, which established that the king may not levy or collect any taxes (except the feudal taxes to which they were hitherto accustomed), save with the consent of his royal council, which gradually developed into a parliament.

Actually the Welsh Assembly is not a Parliament - nothing like. It has no tax raising powers. I wouldn't have any problem with England having its own assembly, but I would have a problem with it having its own parliament while Wales still has only an assembly. This is not semantic - there is a very real and important difference.

Actually only Scotland - at the moment anyway - has the right to raise revenues. England is already 80 per cent of the UK. There are far more people in London than in the whole of Scotland.

Of course everyone of the 4 parts of the UK should have its own real Parliament - with equal powers.

                      That's what I meant.

                      Plus a British Parliament.

                          Re: Scottish Vote for Independence

As a French Canadian living in Quebec, I must admit I am relieved by the No win in Scotland. The nationalist movement here was only waiting for Independance in Scotland to gain momentum and use it as an exemple on how sovereignty might be achived.

So, I guess these are selfish reasons, I am Canadian and proud to be but I would have respected the decision of the Scottish people if they had choosed otherwise. Still, I do hope that the UK gets a real federalism as a result, just like ours.
