The Tea Party has pushed the Republican Party so far to the Right, that Newt Gingrich's heath care plan from the 1990's is some socialist agenda. Now...whether or not the Tea Party is libertarian, that's another disucssion.
I don't disagree. But when the people that oversee public health for 360 million people over 50 states have significant funding cuts that impede their response to public health crises we ought not be surprised when this sort of thing happens.
Of course we should. But those people have to be trained, there has to be oversight, and they need equipment. And apparently, in Texas, that hasn't happened...state public health athourities are even worse off than the federal ones...and municipalities have it the worst of all.

I don't see why we need more money to be competent enough to figure out that we ought to hire people qualified to do something to do it.
