    Re: Bad air,no problem

Coal is disgusting. When I first moved to Berlin, a lot of homes still burned it for heat and the air was awful in the winter. That stuff really sticks to your lungs and it's terrible if you have asthma. Luckily, fewer houses burn it now thanks to the tons of renovations that have happened over the past few years, but a few still do (or I'm guessing they do, because I see it sold in our local supermarkets all winter).

I'm moving to an area rich in coal mining and coal power plants. They legally have to filter the plants so that they don't spew black smoke in the air, but it's still bad for the air and I'm hoping it doesn't make me asthmatic: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...erevier_DE.png (gross).

I can't imagine living somewhere like China where it's still used so much on an industrial scale with fewer filters to keep it out of the air.

The show Right This Minute just showed a clip last night of China with a crud load of smog in the air. It looked disgusting.
