London's View of the USA
We are what we are. Nothing more, nothing less. There is good and evil among every kind of people. It's the evil among us who rule now. -Anne Bishop, Daughter of the Blood
I wondered if he could ever understand that it was a blessing, not a sin, to be graced with more than one love.
It could be complicated; of course it could be complicated. And it opened one up to the possibility of more pain and loss.
Still, it was a blessing I would never relinquish. Love, genuine love, was always a cause for joy.

Re: London's View of the USA
Quite frankly, why should a random English person care about knowing all of the states of the US? Putting aside the absurd number (52? Come on, I doubt the average American could even point out London on a map), they don't live there and have no real reason to give a damn about which random crappy Mid-Western state is which.
This isn't a testament to English ignorance, just to American arrogance.

Re: London's View of the USA
Seems more to be a test of a sense of humor than a testament of anything...
The whole project was having a group of Americans label a map of Europe too. The 'murican maps of Canada they did a couple years ago were pretty funny.
Some graphic designer did a map of what various countries think of other countries, whic is pretty funny, sad, and interesting all at the same time...I'll see if I can find it later.Wonderful Life: The Burgess Shale and the Nature of HistoryPagan Devotionals, because the wind and the rain is our Bible

And joined in love together,

Re: London's View of the USA
In Canada, I definately mix up Alberta and Saskatchewan (this is no insult Canada, I also mix up New Hampshire and Vermont, New Mexico and Arizona, and (if I didn't know where the Mississippi River was, I'd mix up Alabama and Mississipi) and generally I forget New Brunswick. In Europe I have issues with remembering which coutry is which from the break up of the former USSR--it was a lot easier when more of the map could be labeled "Commies" (I found the "Mapping Stereotypes" project I was looking for). In Africa, I don't remember which of the little western coast countries between Mauritania and Nigeria is which (plus, with a totally blank map vs a blank map with a word bank, I'd probably forget a few of them and a couple others), and in South America I mix up Uraguay and Paraguay as well as Guyana, Surinam, and French Guiana.
Almost everything I know about geography, I learned in the 90's from cartoons (and a Civics teacher that wouldn't pass anyone that couldn't completely label a world map of the current UN member nations--and you needed Civics to graduate).
...I think the prospect of labeling a world map with what you first think of about that country/region/state is interesting--like a word association game
(D lives in Pyramids, V lives in SNOW AND POLAR BEARS AND SNOW (a northern region of Hockey, canoeing and more hockey), Rae'ya and Heka and a few others live in Kangaroo-land (with its Shark coast), Corbin lives in the Dog that Eats the Mitten and COLD, I live in Property of the US Navy (a region of Cultured Rebellion) Juni lives in Pot and Portlandia!, Danie lives in Sausage and Beer (and Hitler), Sean lives in Wine and Art, Perze lives in CASINOS!!!, Hawkfeathers lives in either Hillbillies or The Osmonds (depends on if she's in the Branson area of the Ozarks or not), Rafe lives in The Derby and Jack Daniels...)Wonderful Life: The Burgess Shale and the Nature of HistoryPagan Devotionals, because the wind and the rain is our Bible
