    Re: Strikes proliferate in China as working class awakens

    While I get the joke, I must say that The People's Republic of China, and the USSR, and Marxist-Leninist regimes in general, are typically not Socialist by any stretch of the imagination. Nor are they Communist in the Marxist, or more traditional, sense of the word. Typically speaking they are seen as being 'State Capitalist' where the state becomes the bourgeois by taking over the means of production instead of giving democratic control of the means of production to the public proletariat. ;3

    Plus the United States of America is in almost no way a Socialist country, and even where it is the state plays almost no role in it. Okay...mini-rant over. Sorry, but comparing the so called 'socialist' or 'communist' countries with the ideology or practice of 'socialism' and 'communism' is one of my biggest pet peeves. ^u^;

    On the actual topic of the article itself, I must say that this has been a long time coming, and that I can only hope for the best in terms of my hope for their success. It was with the same types of rough starts that many labour movements found their victories over the businesses holding out on them their proper dues. In terms of what can be expected in regards to the Chinese government, only time will tell, but I think they will have no choice but to capitulate as the working class becomes concious of its situation. I can only hope that the working class, if it does overthrow the ruling party, can establish a proper Socialist Republic instead of abandoning the idea of Socialism over a party which in no way practices it, or even preaches it as some Socialists and Communists might add. >v<

      China hasn't been a socialist country for a while (if it ever even was one to begin with). For all the lip service it still pays to socialism, it's a pretty capitalist place.
