Just a quick update on what's going on here. I will try to make this as short as possible.

- Morsi was elected president one year ago.
- During this year, Morsi managed to fuel his opposition by issuing a decree that gave him super powers, appointed his own Public Prosecutor, jailed many of the opposition and much more.
- Human rights violations, including torture, killing, sexual violence and police brutality were used against anyone who protested against Morsi.
- A campaign was started called #Tamarud (#Rebel) was created in order to gather signatures to make Morsi leave and have early elections, among other things.
- They claim to have collected more than 20 million signatures so far.
- #Tamarud scheduled mass protests across the country on the 30th of June.

This brings us to today. I went to the protest that took place at the Presidential Palace. There were other protests in Tahrir Square and many other major Egyptian cities. It's easy to say that there were millions in the streets. I have never seen so many people on the street.

I took some pics (I'll also post pictures from news sources and twitter) that I'd like to share with you!

The Presidential Palace

This guy was holding a Qur'an with one hand and a cross in the other!

Flags of Martyrs (killed by Morsi, and sometimes others) are very common during such protests. This flag is Muhamad 'Chrisit' killed during clashes around the Presidential Palace a few months ago. He started a facebook page called Brothers Liars (referring to the Muslim Brotherhood), though he did vote for Morsi during the elections.

Glory to the Martyrs.

Every now and then, Helicopters would fly over us. They were greeted by loud noises and laser pointers pointed at it. Can you tell how green this one looks from all the lasers?

Ikhwan not allowed to enter. (Ikhwan = Brothers. Referring to the Muslim Brotherhood, Ikhwan Muslimeen in Arabic)

LEAVE. Lots of signs and cheers used that word.

Leave. The people demand the fall of Ikhwan.

Occupy the streets.

Will post pictures I gathered from the internet in another post. I'll just leave you with this one, that's where I was tonight:
