    Good thing about all that rain...

    ... is that I found a huge bucket load of white morels just by walking from my car to door!

    The only thing I've foraged for so far this year is birch sap.
    Spring is slow in the north.

      Do you make syrup or birch beer?

      I've got a lot of maples. Someday, I may tap some of them.

        Birch syrup. I've never made birch beer before, but tapping for syrup is so much work that I wouldn't want to tap more trees.

        Two weeks of a few gallons of sap a day, and we got just under a litre of syrup to show for it. Birch is crazy.

            I've never had borch syrup. I think I've read that it's kinnda wintergreen-ish.?

            Actually, I've never had birch beer, either.

            Is it the regular paperbark birch?
