I am really interested, since i cannot seem to find much more online about the myths/legends behind eyes than the Eye of Horus, i was wondering if anyone has any information regarding the eyes of people....what was said about them in ancient times, what were the myths surrounding a persons eyes?

Re: Myths About Eyes
There are the myths of the Evil Eye and all of the gestures and artifacts used to ward them off. There once was a man who said though,
It seems that I know that I know,
What I'd like to see,
Is the I that knows me,
When I know that I know that I know.

Re: Myths About Eyes
Historically in Europe (at least) it was believed that some kind of ray, called "eye beams" shot out of your eyes and actually touched the things you look at. You'll find diagrams in DaVinci's notebooks, and references to this idea in Shakespeare.
It's the idea that vision works from inside out, rather than from outside in, that leads to the idea that the eyes have power to project one's will.Every moment of a life is a horrible tragedy, a slapstick comedy, dark nihilism, golden illumination, or nothing at all; depending on how we write the story we tell ourselves.

Other than them though, variations of that line go back a long way.

Grimm speculates that the sun was the one-eyed God at one time. There's also the myth of Odin giving his eye for knowledge.
Cool fact that isn't folklore: all people with blue eyes are related. The gene comes from one man that lived several thousand years ago.
Edit: The dailymail is a junk "entertainment" paper. Sort of as bad as the Enquirer and its Bigfoot Alien baby stories.

Re: Myths About Eyes
blast, it's more entertaining if that article is halfway to legit. Oh well, it's still funny. I'll modify the link to reflect the lack of legitimacy.

Re: Myths About Eyes
It's long been thought in many parts of the world that a person staring at someone would be a way to lay a curse on someone. This would later be known as the evil eye. In the case of Horus his eyes represent the sun and moon; the left being the moon and the right the sun. Some other possible meanings some other possible meanings.Circe
