From what I've read, they're virtually identical. At least "on paper".
Both are hard polytheist, both have about the same folkish tendencies (i.e., some but not all), and both describe themselves as a blend of reconstructionist and neopagan approaches to reviving Germanic pre-Christian religion. Heck, both got their start around the same time between 1969 and 1973. The primary difference is that they were founded by different people; Odinism being developed by Else Christensen, and Asatru being formed by Stephen McNallen.
The whole thing of one referring to racialist/folkish groups and the other not is kind of a recent development. One that may or may not be accurate.
