    Because that shows a total lack of empathy for other people. We all have the right to think what we want no matter how vile and we all have the rights to our feelings but those rights end when someone else's begins. To smack someone just for the shits and giggles of it crosses the boundary. Sociopaths have no empathy for others. They are narcissistic and selfish.

            This is very dependent on whose side you're looking at. No, Lincoln was not waging war to abolish slavery. He just took advantage of the war offering him a chance to do so. The Confederacy? I had the poor judgement to read some of the explanations provided by Southern States for secession. The theme of "Mah right to enslave and abuse Negroes is endangered!!!" was thick enough to cut with a knife so unless the states who weren't kind enough to explain themselves in detail disagree completely (and if they did then someone explain why the Confed Constitution required each state to embrace the practice of slavery) then slavery was very much a factor in why the South tried to break away.               "Lack of empathy" is nothing to be proud of. Quite the opposite. Like being color blind.

              Proud? No.

              You lack what everybody else is able to take for granted.

                Trust is knowing someone or something well enough to have a good idea of their motivations and character, for good or for ill. People often say trust when they mean faith.
