Well, they're both long dead... Haven't been haunted by either one of them, so I s'pose it's going pretty much as expected.

(For the curious, my mother died at 44 from complications of chemotherapy/radiation therapy for lung cancer. I was 10. My dad died at around 57 from a cardiac something or other when I was 19).

I only have one left. My mom. And that relationship would best be described as "interesting". We get along just fine, it's just that she's batshit.

I live with my mother for another month and two days. We're on good terms.
I've never known my father, nor do I care to know him.

Mine was always rather strained at best. Lots of underlying control/power issues.
It always struck me odd how most people can't let go of a toxic parent, even though they won't hesitate to divorce an abusive spouse, etc.

For my husband, it's financial. Gods forbid he get written out of the will, and his sister's the same way. By the time his mom gets done killing his dad, there won't be anything left for them to inherit, anyway.

I pretty much turned my back on the rest of my family - every time we all get together in the same room, we tear each other apart. I don't need that in my life.

Years ago I was thrown out of a bar where my boyfriend worked. Some asshole on a bar stool thought he would reach up under the back of my mini skirt and pinch my butt as I walked by. I turned around and decked him square in the jaw and he fell backwards off his bar stool and hit the floor hard. The manager tossed us both out but I got a standing ovation as I left. I really hurt my hand but it was totally worth it.
