Its a primal thing. Dogs do many things their ancestors did in the past for protection. They eat their poop to keep predators from having a trail to follow. Its why they lick the blood off their babies and eat any after birth. They walk around in a circle before laying down, because back in the day grass was really high, and the rotation would lay the grass flat. So since the dog lives with the cats, the poop is in their home, so its eating the poop from primal instinct =D
