I'd venture to say "most places", though, not just some.
Women can hold jobs outside of nursing and house maids. Blacks can own property and vote. Mexicans aren't stuck in fruit stands and farm fields. These are major successes. They are, by no means, the only successes.
Progress *is* there, far and away, just that there's some people still clinging to some antiquated patriarchal prejudice of how things are and should be... and how things work. Many, many battles have been won but there's still more to do. Huge leaps have now given way to smaller, but no less important, finishing steps.
