It seems that there has been a rash of explosions on pig farms due to pig poop foam.

I mean, it really is kinda scary, and why is there suddenly foamy poop? like the last 5-6 years they have had foam poop problems? whats going on with that? have we broken pigs?

They are blaming it on antibiotics, which are turning the pig poop micro-organisms into X-Men (uhm... I mean X-microbes).

i think you may be on to something.....i think we have broken pigs now!! hahaha

ok hahaha fun by side...maybe the material they use to break down the poop....creates the foam...the methane gas gets caught in the foam...methane = highly explosive....BOOM!
just a theory....OR
all the chemicals and crap nowadays pumped into our animals...is reacting with the other chemicals we are using to break down the feces...reacting with the methane.....again would = BOOM lol

That's a similar problem that is found in chicken & turkey farming, also seen at times in cattle farms where factory type farming conditions are found. The waste is collected in holding pits where ventilation is not sufficient to carry off the heavier elements and it collects. Factor in that other environmental influences, such as rain water or over flow from ground water may further corrupt the pits. We had a couple of farmers killed in Virginia a few years ago when they went down into one of the open pits and the gases suffocated them in seconds. It acted so quickly that a few of the initial rescuers were also killed before self contained breathing units arrived with some of the local fire services. All of it combined creating both a suffocating element and an explosive mixture of gases.

So its not that strange or unusual of a story to those who live in farming areas.
