Hello friends,
This thread is aimed at the discussion of electronic music. If you aren't familiar with electronic music, it is music performed using synthesizers and other electronic instruments. If you liked the '80s, you might like this.
So, I'm a fan of drum'n'bass, electronica, and jungle (somewhat). I'm not really into dubstep. My favorite artists are Omni Trio, Pendulum, and Kavinsky. Below I will include a few songs from them and also some random tracks that really highlight what I appreciate when it comes to electronic music. If you've never heard it before, you can try listening to these as well if you want.
Omni Trio is fairly versatile as far as his electronic music goes... He started off with one of the most notable jungle albums in the mid '90s "The Deepest Cut" and advanced further and further into electronica and ambient music until his final release, "Rogue Satellite" in 2004.
"Sanctuary" by Omni Trio (1999): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pbk1qHIkUgM
"Artificial Life" (2001): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMHFHvKeFGI
"Higher Ground" (2001): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1aS-hi7h38
"Earth Song" (2004): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUTGJbqsLjs
Pendulum hasn't changed much over the course of their career. They don't have nearly as many albums as Omni Trio up there. Unlike many other electronic musicians, however, they incorporate many lyrics into their songs, but not all of them. They even perform live concerts with a full band. I suppose you could say Pendulum fuses rock and electronica. Sometimes they almost enter the realm of dubstep.
"Propane Nightmares" by Pendulum (2008): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2j5uMYTnDE
"The Other Side" (2008): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgwmnCMpGKw
"The Island, Pt. 1: Dawn" and "The Island, Pt. 2: Dusk" (2010): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGow4nmYkkA
"Slam" (2005): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ch_5_x1IUA8
Kavinsky is all about that '80s sound.
"Pacific Coast Highway" by Kavinsky (2010): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5FKNViujeM
"Wayfarer" (2007): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArtophI2ORg
And then here are a few more random songs that I particularly enjoy:
"Splash" by Sub Focus: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lTmo_RdeWU
"Winter Sun" by Break: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z7evArSoRg
"Mystery Machine" by Ed Rush & Optical: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLuxHTr23Ik
"Spectre" by Aquasky: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0v3oCEyYjM
"Onyx" by CoLD SToRAGE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWcsWDKeNUw
There you have it! Since electronic music artists sometimes don't even release full albums, sometimes electronic music is more about finding obscure tracks. However, many artists (especially the more popular ones) do have relatively easy-to-find albums.
Please share your favorite artists & tracks!
