I don't. The last time I felt close to lonely was when I was with someone I wasn't getting along with, and missed solitude.

I call my wife. If I can't talk to her...well...I try to find something creative to do. Generally it's when I go camping without her, so whittling, weaving, stuff like that to pass the time and relax. If I'm at the trailer during my work week I come here.

I read a book. Kills the time and destroys the feeling of loneliness.

Talk to a friend. If no one's available, I try to get laid. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't.

Odd as it may sound, it totally depends on the circumstances. For the most part, I don't get bothered by loneliness. Those times when it does hit me, though, I have a wide range of distractions, from video games to pets to music to sleep.

Confession time: I think my first cure for loneliness, however, is right here, amongst my adopted family. I'll look for specific people, and things they've posted, to sort of lose my own environment in favor of theirs. In a way. This, actually, is one of the reasons I miss Perze so much. She's one of the few whose posts help keep me *sane* - a fact I sometimes feel horrible about because it almost sounds disingenuous. Like, the only reason I JUMP to see what B., Rick, Doc, Jodee, or someone, posted is simply out of some sort of self pity. Then the feeling passes, as I start reading through whatever threads and posts.

Chain, I confess feeling the same way. After a long day at work..I come home alone. And I feel better just reading about the day to day goings on of the people here.

I would love to conduct an experiment to see how long I would need to be alone before feeling lonely. That would include no internet and no phone. I'd probably turn off the electricity, too. At least a week, I think, before I experience anything resembling "lonely." Don't get me wrong, I like people (obviously, or I would not be here), but I am also a very self-entertaining person with broad interests in not-human things.

My opinions on religion. My mom just isn't interested - she's Catholic and doesn't much care for other points of view (although she grants that we're allowed to have them). One of my sisters is completely sold on the idea of being a WASP, and my other sister is an alcoholic (with a heavy reliance on religion - not really interested in knocking what little support she has out from underneath her). Here? Well, y'all have the right to ignore me

Problems that are going on in my life. A lot of family shit thats going down I've been asked to keep off of facebook which is where I usually vent to, but no one here knows my family so it wont create any drama to get support and ideas for shit going wrong to post it here

The struggle I went through with the death of my mother. My friends know she died. They were caring. But I pretty much didn't talk about it. At all. I just carry her death with me. How she died. How horrible it was. I couldn't put that on people I know in real life. I couldn't deal with the faces they would give me. Caring feels like sharp needles to me. They may be inclined to hug me. And we all know I don't like to be touched.
